L.A.B. Golf continues to redefine the putting experience with its Lie Angle Balanced (L.A.B.) technology. The latest addition to their lineup, the OZ.1i, represents a step toward traditional design while maintaining the brand’s signature performance features.

Designed in collaboration with Adam Scott, the OZ.1i combines a refined, classic mallet-style head with groundbreaking functionality. Here’s how it performed during our testing.

Looks

At address, the OZ.1 is a stunning departure from the more avant-garde designs of L.A.B. putters to date. The half-moon mallet shape feels instantly familiar, appealing to players accustomed to more traditional putters.

This is a putter that wouldn’t look out of place in a collection of Scotty Camerons or Odyssey mallets, yet it’s undeniably L.A.B. with its distinctive angles and attention to detail.

L.A.B.’s decision to include a firmer milled face insert—its first ever—is a bold move. The result? A sleek look that matches the club’s premium performance.

The premium craftsmanship is evident, and the handmade construction in L.A.B.’s Oregon factory gives it a unique, high-end feel worthy of its price tag.

Customization

The OZ.1i introduces a major shift for L.A.B. with the option of a 0° shaft lean. This means golfers can now use a regular grip, making the putter accessible to players hesitant to embrace L.A.B.’s forward press options.

Of course, the standard L.A.B. lean is still available, and I opted for the 2º press pistol grip which I’ve become accustomed to on my DF3.

Beyond shaft lean, the OZ.1i offers customization options similar to its predecessors, including grip upgrades, alignment aids, and personalized specifications. I opted for the cappuccino head color, which pairs beautifully with the black grip and shaft.

Sound & Feel

The OZ.1i feels like a different animal compared to its aluminum-faced predecessors. The milled face insert produces a firmer feel with slightly faster ball speeds, a noticeable shift from L.A.B.’s traditionally softer feedback.

Despite the firmer touch, the OZ.1i retains exceptional balance. The putter feels steady and smooth throughout the stroke as if the head glides effortlessly on its intended path.

Feedback is distinct enough to identify off-center strikes, yet the forgiveness remains top-tier. The L.A.B. technology helps to prevent any torsion throughout the stroke, giving you the confidence to roll putts online even if you struggle with finding the center of the face.

Performance

On the greens, the OZ.1i is a joy to use. The milled face promotes consistent roll with a slightly quicker pace, which can be a game-changer on slower greens.

Lie Angle Balanced technology continues to shine, keeping the face square throughout the stroke. This makes the putter almost foolproof when it comes to starting the ball on your intended line, giving you the confidence to focus on dialing in the speed.

For players who prefer a touch of customization, the weight and shaft options allow you to tailor the OZ.1i to your exact preferences. I opted for the GEARS x L.A.B. Golf shaft upgrade, which enhances the OZ.1 with unmatched stability and a crisp, responsive feel.

We tested the OZ.1i on a mix of indoor mats and natural greens, and the putter performed flawlessly across the board.

Final Thoughts

The L.A.B. Golf OZ.1i Putter bridges the gap between tradition and innovation, making it one of the most versatile putters the brand has ever released.

Whether you’re a fan of the sleek half-moon design, intrigued by the firmer milled face, or eager to try a 0° shaft lean L.A.B. putter, the OZ.1i has something to offer. It feels premium, performs reliably, and—importantly—looks the part.

If you’ve been hesitant to try L.A.B. putters due to their unconventional aesthetics, the OZ.1i might just change your mind.
